so this is my first official-non-intro post. i feel special. it is around 1 ish in the morning, and i have to get up in approximately eight hours to earn minimum wage in a tween clothing shop. i work there as well as a shoe store, i am a mall rat. i have pretty bad insomnia, which explains my late night blogging spree.

things on my mind:
-whether or not i should wear my beautiful new $160 romanian leather cowgirl boots to work tomorrow (a staple of my summer wardrobe, but nonetheless a wee bit uncomfortable)
-despite the fact that no one has read my blog yet, i already feel exposed
-my conspiracy theory about robots trying to outbid me on ebay for leather backpacks, 66 cents, really?
-when oh when will i get a copy of 'songs from the aquarium' by Port? literally my new favorite band. check out their notes on itunes, they have a really cool bluesy yet kinda country bar feel. make me want to wear my boots.

talkin about country, i think i a have been hypnotized, or maybe injected with some additive focused on country. never one for haystacks, i have changed my ways. i dont listen to the music, no, but have been inspired in other ways. my boots for example, also a new dita-meets-katy-meets-farmgirl dress i bought the other day, black and white gingham style checkers, high fittet waist, short full flouncy skirt, peter pan collar, button down, and cap sleeves. it makes me want to say yee-haw, maybe pinup farm girl is the best way to describe it?? i prefer to wear it with a wide distressed light brown belt and mahh boots. j'dore.

so checklist: boots, PORT, and dita.

cue the intro

bonsoir... welcome to retro-static. i basically entered to the arena of bloggerdom lacking any expectations, i just wanted to give it a whirl. first, let me explain my title, it's origin, and a little about myself. sooo, retro-static. the title came from my love of anything from another era, whether it be vintage clothing, classic films, or the musical stylings of frank sinatra and ella fitzgerald. the static part is pertaining to the lack of a concentrated topic for the blog. i plan on discussing my main passions, fashion and music, and whatever else pops into my mind. i'm still in school (bust), but plan on pursuing both a career in the fashion world, as well as a successful h.wood costume designer. period films are my favorite. i've already done some costuming in local theatre, as well as designed and constructed some of my own garments. i have very eclectic tastes in all areas of life, and plan to share them with the rest of the blogging world. enjoy...
